Low Cost Nissan Micra Spied Again

It has been quite sometime that Nissan is working on a low cost Micra which will be positioned as the budget friendly hatchback. Few days back the car was spotted during its test rounds and now one of the Chennai based car lover has sent the images of new low cost Nissan Micra images, caught during test mule.

Recently the company has unveiled the new 2013 Micra in Thailand and we all know that Micra is the company's global hatch. So, by making a low cost Micra, Nissan is creating a new space in the premium hatchback segment for the recently unveiled Micra facelift. It is speculated that the new low cost Micra will be called as Nissan Micra Active.

According to media reports, Nissan India has managed to cut down the prices of new hatch which is based on lightweight V platform. The company gone through various measures like pinching on the NVH package, localizing the steering system which was earlier imported and by removing the airbags which comes as a standard in all Nissan Micra.

However, we didn't see any changes in the spotted low cost version when compared to the current Micra, the only difference is the introduction of new Aqua green exterior color which is also available in companies flagship MPV Evalia. The low cost Nissan Micra is expected to house the same 1.5 litre K9K diesel engine paired to a five-speed manual transmission capable of producing 64bhp of power. With competitive pricing, the low cost Micra could be the game changer for Nissan in India and will compete against Maruti Ritz, Ford Figo, Chevrolet Beat and many more.
