M550d and X6 M50d cars join the BMW fleet with new diesel engines from its M-Division

BMW’s M division is delving new depths for its new variants of X6 SUV. The M division is back with some pretty exciting details on the BMW's two new cars. We are talking about the two new variants, the M550d and X6 M50d here. To make it more clear, the X6 M50d and the M550d are the two new cars powered by diesel powertrains, while the M550d is the much talked about diesel variant of the M5 sedan.

The reports say that the production will begin during early next year, which means the launch could creep towards the second half of 2012. As of now, its just the European markets where the launch is expected to take place. We will have to see if BMW India considers the two new cars in the domestic market. We in India are probably aware of only the BMW X6 M variant. But, here comes a new variant more for the global markets for what we can say by the looks of it. The X6 M50d has some really exciting numbers for the power and torque, with 381 Bhp peak power and 780 Nm of peak toque delivered by the high performing diesel engine.

The car leaps at high speed, reaching the 0-100 kmph before the needle ticks at the 5 seconds mark, where only BMW X6 M can stand the competition. Coming to the diesel variant of the famous BMW M5, the BMW M550d seems to keep up with the benchmark, the M5sedan has set. This variant with the diesel powertrain under the hood manages to deliver the outright performance touching the 0-100 kmpl in just 4.7 seconds. However, this variant has some more accolades to speak of. This diesel engine is surprisingly a green environment promoter. The mileage is another huge plus on the SUV with 19 kmpl which is remarkable for a luxury car.
