It is Maruti Suzuki’s first car to be exported to home country - Japan!
The Japanese automaker has announced that the first batch of Suzuki Baleno has arrived at the Toyohashi Port, Japan. In all these years, Baleno is the first car to be exported from India to Japan, it is manufactured at Maruti Suzuki’s Manesar Plant. Although the automaker has been exporting cars from India to other country but never to Japan.
India is the manufacturing base for this hatchback, it will be manufactured in India and will be exported to various parts of the world. It was launched in India before the rest of the world, in October last year. Baleno proved to be a runaway success for the automaker and is retailed from Nexa dealerships. Speaking of its underpinnings, it is based on Suzuki’s brand new platform which is considerably light compared to the one in Swift and has also increased structural strength. Future cars from Suzuki will be based on this platform.
Baleno is also the first car to incorporate debuting engine from Suzuki’s new Boosterjet family of turbocharged petrol engines - the 1.0-litre Boosterjet. Adding to the context of India, though Baleno was launched with 1.2-litre VVT petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS190 diesel, we will get this engine in the upcoming Baleno RS, this festive season. The engine made its Indian debut at the recently held 2016 Indian Auto Expo. The engine features direct injection along with turbocharging and generates a max power of 110 bhp and 170 Nm of peak torque.
