Mahindra Announces Price Hike: Other Carmakers to Follow Soon

The home grown manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra has announced a price hike in passenger and commercial vehicles by an average of 1 per cent. The increase in the price will be effective from this month and would be in the range of Rs 2,300 to Rs 11,500 (Ex-showroom) depending on the model.

Pravin Shah, Chief Executive, Automotive Division & International Operations (AFS), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. on the price hike said, “We have been holding back on price hikes for a while but now it has been necessitated to partly offset the impact of rising input costs.”

The increased prices will be effective from the this week across all models. According to the company, the price hike is in accordance with rising input costs. India’s leading SUV manufacturer recently launched the next generation Scorpio at Rs 7.98 lakh while the top end model S 10 is priced at Rs 11.46 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Mumbai). The 2014 Scorpio facelift is made available in 6 variants-S2, S4, S6, S6+, S8 and top-of-the-line S10. The SUV also features two new color shades- Molten RED and Regal Blue.

Moreover adding twist to the rugged Thar, the automaker also rolled out the Adventure Edition of the SUV. The Mahindra Thar Adventure Edition is limited to 30 units and is made available at selected dealerships. The Adventure Edition apart from cosmetic upgrades gets a new Java Brown colour with stylish Adventure body decals. It is only available with CRDe trim.
