Mahindra has announced that its SUV, the Bolero Power+, has received BS6 certification, well ahead of its early 2020 launch. While the introduction of BS6 engine is still a few months away, the Mahindra has updated the basic safety net of the Bolero. It now gets:
-
Driver side airbag
-
Speed alert system
-
Driver & co-driver seatbelt reminders
-
Manual override for central locking system to open the door from inside
-
Rear parking sensors
Mahindra will not only introduce these features on the Bolero Power+, it has also confirmed that other variants of the Bolero such as the Bolero Plus (9 seater) and the Bolero Ambulance will get these.
The Bolero Power+ is powered by a 1.5-litre mHawk D70 diesel engine that makes 71.3PS of power and 195Nm of peak torque mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. This is the same engine that also powers the Mahindra TUV300. Mahindra had earlier confirmed that the bigger 2.5-litre engine will also be migrated to meet BS6 norms. This engine powers the standard Bolero, Bolero Plus and the Bolero Ambulance. In fact, all the diesel engines in Mahindra portfolio except the 1.2-litre unit on the KUV100 will be carried forward to meet the stricter cleaner emission norms by the stipulated time period.
The Mahindra Bolero Power+ is currently priced from Rs 7.49 lakh to Rs 9.04 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), thanks to a price hike of upto Rs 40,000. With the introduction of the BS6 engine, these prices are expected to go further up by upto Rs 80,000.
