Mechanically, the Bolero Neo comes with a 1.5-litre diesel engine that makes 100PS and 260Nm (+20Nm). It is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission that drives the rear wheels. While it doesn’t get 4WD, Mahindra is offering a mechanical locking rear differential on the top-spec N10 (O).
The Bolero Neo is essentially a facelift for the TUV300, however, it has now been positioned as the premium version of the original Bolero. That means it gets modern amenities like a new instrument cluster (borrowed from the Thar), a 7-inch touchscreen (sadly without Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), steering-mounted audio control, cruise control (new), rear wiper and defogger, and Mahidnra’s BlueSense app functionality. Taking care of passenger safety are dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and ISOFIX mounting points on the rear seats.
The 7-seater Bolero Neo will be offered in six colour options: Rocky Beige, Majestic Silver, Highway Red, Pearl White, Diamond White, and Napoli Black. A seventh option called ‘Royal Gold’ is on its way, and Mahindra might make it exclusive to the N10 (O) variant, which will be launched later.
At this price point, the body-on-frame Bolero Neo will go up against monocoque sub-4 metre SUVs like the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Kia Sonet, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, and Hyundai Venue. However, with its 5-seater and twin rear jump seats layout, the SUV will be more versatile in terms of the number of passengers it can accommodate. Also, the rugged construction will lend it improved durability.
