However, it has been speculated that things might changes for this SUV in the upcoming months. According to sources, a cut price variant of Mahindra XUV 500 SUV might pave its way in the market in the next few months. The 2.2 liter common rail turbo diesel engine would retain its position and would continue to drive a power of 140 BHP and a torque of 330 Nm for this exceptional SUV. The six speed manual gearbox too will be retained in the new variant; the interior of this best-selling crossover is most likely to undergo a change. The cut price variant is expected to use the same quality of plastic but some changes to the central console are likely to be made.

The central console might lose out on some entertainment features; some other features from the interiors of the car that are not regularly used by the customers would also be deducted. The deductions would make the cut price variant of XUV500 to cost roughly around Rs. 10-Rs 10.5 lakh. Mahindra’s arch rival Tata Motors is set to launch its super-hyped 2012 Tata Safari Storme in the next few weeks. To increase the competition for the revamped Tata Safari Storme Mahindra would launch the cut price variant in the next few months.
