Mahindra has been testing a 4-door variant of its Goodness car, e2o in India. The car was spotted on Bangalore-Hosur highway which gave confirmations to the rumors of a 4-door version that emerged last year. The car was covered under heavy camouflage but according to the reports, the overall proportions of the car largely remain the same (except for the longer wheelbase). The taillight cluster seems to be altered and moved a little upwards. Other than that, and the fact that this will be a longer car, all other aspects seems to be borrowed from the 2-door sibling. Mahindra also recently conducted the ‘Goodness Drive’ in which three Mahindra e2os made their way across the length of the country from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
Talking about the 2-door Mahindra e2o, it comes loaded with features like music system, power steering, electric ORVMs and a reverse camera. Mechanically, it is powered by a 25.47 bhp (19 kW) / 53.9 Nm motor which can run the car for 120 km on a full charge. The top speed of the car is 81 km/h but driving fast results in a rapid decay of charge. The 4-door version might get an upgrade in motor or battery considering it will have to carry a heavier load.
Dr. Pawan Goenka, the Executive Director of Mahindra & Mahindra said last month in a statement that the 4-door version will be exported to the European markets. So, there is no news yet of whether or not this car will make a commercial appearance in the country. But with the growing concerns on air pollution and the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles (FAME) scheme of the government( which provides incentives to hybrid and electric vehicles of all types from buses to two-wheelers in a range of Rs 1,800 to Rs 66 lac.), this 4-door EV might be a good option in India.
