An uncamouflaged production-spec model of Mahindra Genio has been spied, probably somewhere in Telangana. The car spied is the upcoming facelift for Genio, which happens to be a pick-up version of Mahindra’s Xylo MPV. Genio will probably go on sale in the coming weeks and will be offered in both single and double-cab variants. The car has been snapped in its blue colour scheme and features a completely redesigned front end, which reminds one of the Ford F150 Raptor. Genio features a less utilitarian grille, which incorporates silver garnish. The bonnet also features a flared arch that encases the protruding Mahindra logo. The fog lamp enclosures also get the same treatment and feature flared foglamp encasings that flaunt chrome accents.
The blue colour scheme is a new addition for the pick-up, as the current Genio variants are only available in three colour schemes viz. silver, white and brown. Under the hood, the Genio facelift is expected to remain unchanged and continue incorporating the 2.5-liter four-cylinder CRDe diesel engine that produces 75bhp of power output and 220 Nm of peak torque. There is also a possibility that Mahindra might introduce Genio in a micro-hybrid avatar, which will feature a Start-Stop system that will help the car offer an enhanced fuel economy. In India Genio will only be offered in a 2WD configuration, whereas the export market models will feature an AWD drive type. The export models will also get Mahindra’s 2.2-liter mHawk diesel engine that produces 120bhp of power and 280 Nm of peak torque.
Furthermore, Mahindra is soon to bring one of the most awaited launches from them in the passenger car segment, KUV 100 that would be making it to the showrooms on January 15th next year. Given the mini SUVish construction and Indians soaring love for SUVs, the vehicle is expected to manifold Mahindra's footprint in the mass market segment.
