It is available with both 2WD and 4WD systems

Home-grown automaker Mahindra has introduced the Scorpio Adventure Limited Edition in India. It is available with either a 2WD (two-wheel-drive) or a 4WD (four-wheel-drive) system. While the former is priced at Rs 13.1 lakh, the latter will cost you Rs 14.2 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom Delhi). These prices are around Rs 40,000 more than the top-spec S10, 2WD and 4WD variants. Let’s see what you get for the extra money.

The most evident changes are on the outside. The Scorpio Adventure comes in a dual-tone colour theme, with white body paint and mist silver plastic cladding all around. Even the front and rear bumpers receive the same silver treatment to complete the dual-tone outlook. Additionally the body paint is covered with ‘Adventure’-themed decals, 17-inch alloys with gunmetal finish and red brake calipers, turn indicators on ORVMs, smoked-out tail lamps, triple jet windscreen washer and a rear-view camera. The only change inside the cabin is the inclusion of dual-tone faux leather seats.

Powering the Scorpio Adventure is the same turbocharged 4-cylinder mHAWK diesel unit with a cubic capacity of 2.2 litres. The engine churns out 122PS of power and 280Nm of torque. Transmission duties are handled by a five-speed manual gearbox and depending on the variant chosen, the power is transferred via a 2WD or a 4WD system. That means, there is no change in terms of acceleration, top speed or fuel economy.

It isn't the first time that Mahindra has introduced a limited edition Scorpio. In April 2016, the company launched the same Adventure Edition of the Scorpio. It had the same inclusions as this one. Back then, Mahindra said that its production will be limited to only 1,000 units.

Its list of rivals includes the Honda BR-V, Renault Duster, Tata Safari Storme, Hyundai Creta and the Nissan Terrano, which recently received an updated recipe. Apart from the Mahindra Scorpio, only the Renault Duster has a similarly decked-up Adventure Edition in its lineup.
