Mahindra Quanto is waiting from long to get a facelift. Now the car has been spied and as per a new report, the vehicle might be called as ‘Nuvosport’. It was seen back in mid 2015 and that time, it was expected that the car will be named as ‘Canto’, but probably due to a busy year since then, the Indian carmaker has not been able to launch the same.
The images reveal a lot about the to-be-launched vehicle. Most prominent changes include the upgradation of the front grille and airdam design. Mahindra has borrowed the face from its other SUV, Scorpio, which perfectly suits the “NuvoSport’.The two vertical slats in the airdam have now been replaced by a more classy honeycomb structure. Other modifications include reworked headlamps, taillamps and side-indicators.
One of the reasons of delay of the launch might be the introduction of petrol engine. It is evident that Mahindra has now started focusing on petrol engines as well, following a recent ban on diesel vehicles by the Supreme Court of India. The company recently launched KUV100, petrol variants of which has invoked massive response. Quanto, as of now, comes only with a diesel powerhouse of 1.5-litre delivering a maximum power of 100 bhp with a peak torque of 240 Nm. It is highly anticipated that the company will introduce a petrol mill in Quanto facelift with an automatic gearbox. Expect the same to happen sometime around the end of this month.
