Mahindra rolls out Scorpio LX 4X4 at Rs 9.17 lakhs

Country’s renowned utility manufacturer has launched a 4x4 model of their flagship SUV, Mahindra Scorpio on the mid LX variant today at Rs 9.14 lakhs(ex-showroom price). The bundle of surprise, Scorpio LX 4x4 was rolled out yesterday without any inkling from the auto major. For ages now, Mahindra Scorpio has been providing an out and out off-roading experience to the SUV fans across the country. Unlike the other SUVs in the country, Mahindra’s vehicles are known for their macho looks delivering powerpacked performance and Mahindra Scorpio is the first to hit the mind while considering an SUV.

Mahindra Scorpio LX being a mid-variant is not the one to come with an ample safety and comfort features like the top end VLX variant. And the Mahindra Scorpio LX 4X4 SUV is no different from its LX 4x2 variant. There are literally no changes as far as exteriors are concerned, except for a minute addition of a new disc in the core of the wheel. One glimpse at the interiors of the car, the first change that catches the attention is the 4x4 drive level mode sitting on the central console as one would expect. M&M has absolutely ignored the key safety features in the LX 4x4 variant just as before, which still remains devoid of the airbags or ABS as expected from a perfect off-roader.

The inclusion of these features seem to be more essential in the SUV than any other car. The diesel powertrain is however the same, with the 2.2 L CRDe combined with the 5 speed manual gearbox to make some fireworks here. The peak power generated is 120 Bhp and the top torque is 290 Nm. The mileage is going to suffer a little bit than in 4x2 as is the case. Mahindra Scorpio is a disappointment for weight watchers. The car is close to two tonnes already and an additional 100 gm flab increases the weight further due to the 4x4 option.
