Mahindra Scorpio, XUV500, Xylo recalled; total 2,300 units

To rectify defective vacuum pump in engine, India’s leading SUV manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra is recalling 2,300 units of Scorpio, XUV500, and Xylo. The automaker is only recalling vehicles manufactured in May 2014.

The statement released by the company said, "The inspection is limited to approximately 2,300 vehicles of Scorpio (Vlx/Sle/Lx), XUV500 W4/w6/W8 and Xylo H9/H8/H4 variants.” The dealers will contact the concerned customers individually and the inspection and replacement, if needed, of the vacuum pump would be done free of cost.

Earlier in the month of July, the automaker called back 23,000 units of selected variants of Scorpio to rectify faulty pressure regulating valves.

Last month, Maruti Suzuki also recalled 69,555 vehicles, manufactured during 8th March 2010 and 11th August 2013. To a surprise, all the recalled vehicles are diesel models and out of which 55,938 units were of old Swift Dzire while 12,486 units were of old Swift and 1,131 units of Ritz.

Mahindra XUV 500

ln October, the luxury brand Audi also issued a voluntary recall of its premium SUV Q7 manufactured between March and December 2012 over an issue of brake system flaw. The automaker is recalling 382 units of Q7 as a part of global exercise under which company is calling back about 70,000 units of A4, A5, A6 and A7 saloons and Q5 and Q7 in SUV segment to replace the vacuum line in braking system.
