Mahindra Sells 36,706 units in May 2015

India’s leading SUV manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd retailed 36,706 units in May 2015 compared to 37,869 units during May 2014. In the Passenger Vehicles segment (which includes UVs, Cars and Vans), the automaker sold 18,135 units in May 2015 as against 19,470 units in the same month last year.. The company’s domestic sales stood at 33,369 units during May 2015 compared to 35,499 units during May 2014. While the exports saw a growth of 41 per cent with 3,337 units.

Speaking on auto sales performance, Pravin Shah, President & Chief Executive (Automotive), Mahindra & Mahindra said, “The auto industry has been showing signs of recovery and it is important that factors like an interest rate cut if considered, would accelerate growth. At Mahindra we hope to see improved sentiments with higher level of economic activities and the launch of our New Age XUV500 which has received a good initial response. We are also happy with a 41% growth in our exports during the last month”.

Last month, the automaker also updated its SUV model lineup by launching the facelifted XUV 500 at a starting price of INR 11.21 (ex showroom Delhi). The new age XUV 500, as the company calls it, comes with a plethora of changes inside-out.

Mahindra will be launching a total of nine cars in FY2015-16 in the form of three new cars, three major facelifts and three minor facelifts. The launch parade has already started with the national launch of the new XUV500 while the three new cars will include two compact SUVs codenamed S101 and U301.
