The Bolero Neo will launch on July 15, 2021. It is essentially a facelifted TUV300, which was temporarily discontinued last year during the transition to BS6 emission norms. Now, apart from the appropriate engine, the facelifted SUV has been updated with skin-deep changes on the outside and improved features inside.
Exterior styling upgrades include redesigned bumpers, a side black strip applique, a new six-slat chrome grille, restyled headlamp with LED DRLs, and a spoiler. However, the carmaker has done away with the roof rails this time. Other design elements that have been carried forward from the TUV300 include squared wheel arches, an all-black body cladding, a boot-mounted spare tyre, five-spoke alloy wheels, side steps, and a rear step.
The cabin barely gets any changes, save for the revised instrument cluster from the Thar, cruise control, and a second-row armrest. The touchscreen infotainment system has been retained. Also, the absence of voice command buttons in the steering-mounted audio controls means there’s no Android Auto or Apple CarPlay on offer.
The Bolero Neo will get the same 100PS/240Nm 1.5-litre diesel engine as the TUV300. The motor is BS6-compliant, of course, and will get a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. An optional AMT could be introduced as well.
The SUV will be positioned below the XUV300 and could be priced from Rs 8.5 lakh to Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be a more rugged alternative to the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Nissan Magnite, and the upcoming Renault Kiger.
