Mahindra is all set to launch its new sub-4m compact SUV, the XUV300, today. The XUV300 has so far managed to grab eyeballs thanks to a long list of features that include some segment-first equipment. But whether it will gain popularity depends on how Mahindra prices it in an overcrowded segment that comprises of rivals the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and the Honda WR-V.

Here’s everything we know about the new Mahindra SUV so far:

Mahindra XUV300

  • Bookings for the XUV300 can be made for a token amount of Rs 20,000 at Mahindra’s dealerships or through the brand’s online portal.

  • The Mahindra XUV300 is based on a slightly modified version of the Ssangyong Tivoli’s X100 platform. It measures under four metres in length, while the Tivoli is longer than four metres.

  • It will be available in a choice of four variants: W4, W6, W8 and W8(O).

  • It will be offered in six colours - red, blue, white, black, orange and silver. It could be offered in dual-tone colours as well since we spotted them on the media drive. Expect dual-tone colour options to be reserved for the top-spec W8 (O) variant, though.

  • Standard safety features include ABS with EBD, dual airbags, all four disc brakes, rear parking sensors and ISOFIX child seat mount.

Mahindra XUV300

  • The top variant gets seven airbags, front parking sensors, ESP with hill hold function, a reversing camera with dynamic guidelines, and a sunroof.

  • The petrol engine on the XUV300 is a new 1.2-litre turbocharged unit which churns out 110PS of power and 200Nm of torque.

  • The diesel version will be powered by the Marazzo’s 1.5-litre motor. It’s now been tuned to generate 115PS of power with 300Nm of torque.

  • At launch, both engines will be paired with a 6-speed transmission; automatic version could follow later.

  • It boasts of a segment-leading wheelbase of 2600mm. However, that doesn’t mean that it is the most spacious vehicle in the segment.
