Mahindra is planning the launch of the all new Mahindra Xylo Mini MPV during the later part of this year, around the festive season of Dusshera and Diwali. But prior to that, Mahindra is putting in an enormous effort in the thorough testing process of the Mini Xylo MPV to make sure that it delivers best performance in all possible conditions and successfully meets the challenges that it has to face. The Mini Xylo was caught when it was undergoing the testing process in the tough and drastic conditions of Scandinavia in Europe. Some of the spied snapshots of the car gave us a brief idea about its looks and other features.

The Mahindra Xylo Mini is approximately 4 metres long, which has helped Mahindra to optimally utilize the relaxation on excise duty given by the government of India for cars which have a length not more than 4 meters. Unlike Mahindra's previous cars like the full size Xylo MPV which gave competition to the MPVs in India, the Mini Xylo will be a competitor for cars in the small car market of the country. The Xylo Mini price is likely to lie in the range of 4 lakhs to 5 lakhs which is very competitive and affordable price range.

There is also an expectation that the car will be launched in a few months of time with both the petrol as well as diesel engine alternatives. The biggest advantage that the Xylo Mini holds is that it has higher clearance above the ground and also that it has a spacious seating capacity when it is compared with other competitor cars in the hatchback series. According to known information both the engines (petrol as well as diesel), will probably be the compact versions of the current engines in Mahindra's existing cars. However, not much information is available for the petrol engines.

The diesel motor, which is expected to have a design with 3 cylinders, will be around 1.5 litres in displacement. The compact diesel engine has been obtained from the 2.2 ltr mEagle engine of Mahindra Xylo. Further, the 1.5 liter diesel engine will have a common rail direct injection and will be turbocharged. The Mini Xylo MPV will have a seating capacity for 7 people with 2 in front, 3 in the middle and 3 at the back. The two seats in the last are provided as foldable seats.
