Maruti launched the facelift of the Alto which is known as the Maruti A-star here in India, in the Chinese market at the Chengdu Auto Show in China. The price of the facelift version of the A-star in China is 39900 Yuan which is nearly Rs. 3.5 Lakh for the base variant and it goes up to 64300 Yuan which works out to be somewhere close to Rs. 5.6 Lakh.
The Maruti Alto/A-star will be powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that will be capable of delivering a power of 71bhp and a torque of 92Nm. The powertrain will be mated to 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic gearbox.
The front fascia of the hatchback gets new set of headlamps, fog lamps, grille and a new bumper as well up front. The rear end also sees a few changes like a LED treatment for tail lamps, design motif, revised bumper etc.
That gives it a sporty look. The changes in the interiors were however, barely noticeable.
