With shutting down one facility by 2015, the production will come down to five lakh cars per annum which at present is 7.2 lakh.

The closed down unit will be used as a new diesel engine assembly facility  that will have a  competence of 3 lakh engines and also build components. Maruti has reduced the manufacturing in lieu of the complaints being filed against the company by the residents. The locals were hassled by the movement of the truck trailers and the large quantities of incoming material.
