Just after a month of launch, Maruti Ertiga which is the first MPV from Maruti Suzuki, has set a record of 32,000+ bookings in a short period of time. The reason behind the demand of the Ertiga is the cost of the petrol variant in B+ hatchback segment. The diesel variant contributes to the 70% of the bookings done till date. 6,000 units are being manufactured monthly of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga by the giant. Though the massive demand of the vehicle has delayed its waiting list up to six months, the car’s diesel variant is in high demand similar to the Swift hatchback and Swift Dzire sedan who also commenced with high demand and where a huge success for the brand.
Although, Maruti Ertiga MPV is currently being manufactured at the Maruti Suzuki Gurgaon production unit but the car maker is trying to find other manufacturing units for assisting the production of the car to fulfill the rising demand of this MPV. Ertiga is built on the same platform of modified Ritz. This ensures the flexibility in production of the MPV at other manufacturing locations. But there is no information on when the production will increase.
Maruti Ertiga's price is expected to rise in coming few months. At the time of launch, the price quoted for MPV was between INR 5.89 lakh and INR 8.45 lakh. The price was the reason why the auto car maker got the huge bookings of the car in such a short period of time and the same strategy was adopted by Maruti India for launching Swift Dzire which succeeded in the market. Maruti is expected to bring a price hike in the diesel variant of the car as it did the same with Swift Dzire diesel version a few weeks back.
