All its technical details are already known as are some of the prices of its Toyota Hyryder sibling
Update (26/09/2022): Maruti has launched the 2022 Grand Vitara, which is its first strong-hybrid offering, priced from Rs 10.45 lakh (ex-showroom pan-India).
The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is due for a launch soon, and it is the most premium homegrown offering the brand has had to offer. All of its details have been revealed, including the variant-wise features, and we’ve driven it too.
While Maruti has maintained a foothold in the compact SUV segment with the S-Cross, it was never a serious contender to the dominance of the Hyundai Creta. The all-new Grand Vitara, co-developed with the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, is set to change that.
The Grand Vitara will be offered with the choice of a mild-hybrid petrol unit and a strong-hybrid petrol one, both featuring a 1.5-litre engine. The mild-hybrid gets the choice of a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. Maruti is also offering the mild-hybrid engine with an all-wheel-drive option, limited to the manual transmission.
The self-charging hybrid powertrain uses an e-CVT and has a combined peak power output of 116PS. Its star attraction is the claimed fuel economy of 27.97kmpl.
Based on the information available, we expect the Grand Vitara to be priced as follows:

The premium for the strong-hybrid variant over the mild-hybrid petrol-automatic is expected to be around Rs 2.5 lakh. Based on other Maruti models with the mild-hybrid petrol powertrains, the automatic option is expected to attract a premium of Rs 1.5 lakh.
