Maruti Manesar plant workers to shun union election

The tension between the management of Maruti India’s Manesar plant and the workers working there has been going on since the Maruti Strike. Now the workers of the Maruti India’s Manesar plant have decided to shun the union election of this firm, which was held on this Saturday and told that they will shape up their own body. The workers at the Manesar plant had gone on a 13 days long strike under the guidance of MSEU or Maruti Suzuki Employees Union thereby demanding acknowledgement of their individual association.

The Maruti Udyog Kamgar Union is the only union acknowledged by Maruti India and is subjugated by the workers of the Gurgaon Maruti India plant. Apparently 3 candidates have been elected from the Maruti India’s Manesar plant by the management. The arrangements are being made for the poll but sadly none of the members of the plant will be taking part in the poll. This info was given by Mr. Shiv Kumar, the general secretay of MSEU.

Mr. kumar also told that MSEU will also move forward with the plan to form a union for which an application has already been filed in the labour department of Haryana government. The union will be made as soon as the verification process is done. As per the sources, the elections being held in the Maruti Manesar plant is an internal affair of union. The management of Maruti India is basically just providing an administrative support in the election procedure.

During that 13 days long strike, Maruti India faced a loss of around Rs. 630 crore or 12,600 units. This strike came to an end when the Haryana’s CM, Mr. Bhupindra Singh Hooda interfered and managed to put a good work for 11 slacking workers and chopped down the no work no pay rule of 8 day’s salary cut for each day of strike to merely 3 days. Mr. Shiv Kumar made it clear that being dominated by Maruti India’s Gurgaon Plant workers is not actual delegate of the workers of Manesar plant and the Gurgaon plant workers are pretty unsuccessful to deal with their concerns.
