Honda Has recently launched its much-awaited first ever diesel car 'Amaze' in India, which is called the country's most fuel efficient car. It is a direct rival to the country's top selling compact sedan Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire. To counter the Amaze storm, Maruti Suzuki is organising promos, conducting Mileage rallies and other events to take the competition head on.
Soon after the launch of Honda's Amaze, Maruti Suzuki India responded with its limited edition Dzire, called Regal. Now moving forward, the company is aiming its first major customer-marketing action for its compact sedan Dzire, named as 'Dezirable mileage rally', this Sunday simultaneously across 30 cities. The 30 cities includes metros, state capitals and tier II cities. More than 1500 Dzire's owners will drive their cars, and the top three with best mileage will be awarded as the winners. This is an excellent initiative taken by the company to counter Honda's Amaze major key selling proposal : India's most fuel efficient car.
Mayank Pareek, Chief operating officer (marketing & sales), Maruti Suzuki said that,"The idea is to look back, give Dzire owners a chance to test their cars and rediscover that the model remains as fresh and is still a best-buy, especially when it comes to getting the best mileage from every litre of fuel".
With ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India), the Dzire petrol offers an excellent fuel economy of 19.1 kmpl, which is 1.1 km more than Amaze. While, when compare Dzire and Amaze on diesel versions, the Amaze offers a best-in-class 25.8kmpl, which is 2.4kmpl more than the Dzire. It is common that in India fuel efficiency is the key factor, which buyers keep in their minds before going to buy any vehicle, and Maruti is doing this from years. This is for the first time that its arch rival, Honda, has won the battle. However, the Honda is short of production capacity, and the dealership network of Maruti is far better than the Honda.
