Maruti to launch an India-made small car by 2012

Maruti Suzuki, India's top car manufacturer, 50% market shareholder in Indian automobile industry is all set to develop a 100% made in India small car model by year 2012. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd is 54.2% acquired by Japan based Suzuki Motor corporation is now aiming to independently manufacture vehicles in India. Company is in the process of converting its Rohatak facility into a self-dependent facility by year 2012 which is also the year of launching of its new small car in India.
Maruti Suzuki chairman RC Bhargava added that the idea behind establishing a self-sufficient facility in India is to develop company's India-oriented small car in the country itself. Besides Maruti Suzuki many major car manufacturer are coming with their small car models in India soon like Ford is expected to launch its Ford Figo model in India by month of March this year and the Volkswagen Polo model will be launched in India by this month end. In Addition to this Skoda's Yeti and Tata's Aria models are expected to be launched in India by next quarter of this year.
