    Hatchbacks, which used to be a preferred vehicle choice of the Indian market, have slowly seen a decline in sales over the years as customers now prefer SUVs. The last financial year (FY) was no different, with all compact and midsize hatchbacks seeing a decline in sales figures, with the Tata Tiago witnessing the highest dip. All is not lost for this segment, as the Maruti Wagon R, which did see a decline in FY 2025, was still the best-selling car in India.

    Maruti Celerio

    • Maruti sold over 33,000 units of the Celerio in the last financial year. The carmaker sold nearly 40,000 units in the last FY, which makes it the second model here to have the highest sales drop on this list.

    • Maruti dispatched slightly more than 27,400 units of the Ignis in FY 2025. This marked a 15 percent decline for the model when compared to the last financial year.
