Maruti's new MPV by October 09

Maruti Suzuki India is all set to launch its new multi-purpose vehicle by October 2009. The new MPV is said to be coded as '02'. There is no confirmation from company's side but it is learnt that the design, price etc. is yet to be finalised. However, according to sources the new MPV is being built on Versa platform. After the launch it would be pitted against other MPVs like Toyota Innova, Mahindra Xylo, Chevrolet Tavera and Tata Motors' upcoming 'Indicruz' etc. Maruti to launch new MPV by October 2009. Maruti is planned to launch this new vehicle to dominate teh UV market which is ruled by Toyota Innova currently. Its main targeted customers are e.g. the BPO sector that constantly needs to ferry their employees from work to home and back. The MPV will be rolled out of Maruti’s Gurgaon plant, where its micro van, Versa, is also manufactured.  Slated to be a people carrier, the MUV has suitable design and offers comfort.
