Mercedes India CEO, Dr Aulbur to stay till a new CEO is found

As per the latest development in Mercedes Benz India, Dr. Wilfried Aulbur, MD and CEO of Mercedes Benz India, has put in his papers as he has decided to leave the Daimler group. The media reports contemplated that Dr. Aulbur may walk into Audi India or enter another industry.

An official statement from Mercedes Benz stated that Dr. Aulbur will be successfully completing his fifth year as the MD and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India by the end of 2010. Over these years, the company has grown aggressively and Mercedes-Benz has successfully managed to harness the potential in the luxury car segment. During his tenure, Mercedes-Benz established its presence in the truck and the bus business and significantly expanded its research and sourcing operations in India. With the construction of the new factory and several additional projects close to approval, Dr. Aulbur has decided to accept a new challenge outside of the Daimler group within India. Dr. Aulbur will remain with Mercedes-Benz India till a successor is identified to ensure a smooth transition.

Dr. Wilfried Aulbur has been with Mercedes Benz India for the last five years. He has been credited for the achievement of 84 percent increase in Mercedes’ sales in India. Once again in 2010, the company regained its position as number one luxury car maker in India. Earlier this year, the sales figures of Mercedes Benz India crossed even those of BMW and Audi.
