We’ve been covering the launch news of the Mercedes ML 250 CDI for quite some time now. And now after all the waiting, it is finally here. That’s right; Mercedes today launched the ML 250 CDI at a price of Rs. 46.5 lakh (Ex-showroom) from their Chakan facility in Pune. As we have already informed you, the ML 250 CDI carries the milestone of being the first locally assembled Mercedes-Benz M-Class variant to hit the Indian market. Next month will mark the start of the ML 350 CDI local assembly. For more information on the ML 350 CDI, follow our road test .
So far, Mercedes-Benz has sold 2000 units of the M-Class in India. As a reminder, the ML 250 CDI is the younger brother of the ML 350 CDI, carrying with it the smaller 2.2-litre 4-cylinder turbo-charged diesel engine that puts out 205bhp along with 500Nm of peak torque. This is the same engine that currently powers the E- and C-Class models of Mercedes. What’s more, the ML 250 CDI will come with 4X4 option for those who wish to take the SUV for an off-roading spin.
Considering the ML 250 CDI has been priced at Rs. 46.5 lakh, one would expect it to cut-back on features. Not true, The ML 250 CDI comes with all the features of the ML 350 CDI such as its Intelligent Light System, Lane Keeping Assist among others. And now all that remains to be seen is how the ML 250 CDI will fare among names like the Audi Q5 and the BMW X3.
