With the local assembly of GLA, Mercedes-Benz India kick starts new production facility for the compact vehicle; CLA, A and B Class are expected to follow soon!
Mercedes-Benz India has launched locally produced GLA SUV from their manufacturing facility in Pune. The locally produced GLA is nearly Rs. 2 Lac cheaper now - prices for diesel trims starts at Rs. 31.31 Lac (Ex-Showroom, Pune). With the GLA, the German automaker has also inaugurated its new manufacturing facility in the Pune plant premises. The new facility will cater local production of the new compact line of vehicle like the CLA, A and B Class soon. As of now, Mercedes-Benz India has only started the local production of diesel variants of the GLA Class.

- GLA 200 CDI Style: Rs. 31.31 Lac
- GLA 200 CDI Sport: Rs. 34.25 Lac
The company says that they have invested more than INR 1000 Crores in the Chakan, Pune manufacturing facility since inception. And they now have an annual capacity of 20,000 vehicles. The new production facility was inaugurated by Maharashtra's Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis while Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Prakash Javadekar was also present.

The GLA diesel is powered by a 2-liter oil burner, the motor chucks out 136 bhp in-between 3600-4400 rpm and a max twist of 300 Nm extracted in-between 1600-3000 rpm. The compact luxury SUV delivers best in class fuel efficiency of 17.9 kmpl.
