The automotive grapevine is ripe with rumors about the possibility of Mercedes launching a replacement for its current SLC AMG to replace the market dominant Porsche 911 and the upcoming jaguar F Type. This version of the SLC AMG has been slated to launch sometime in 2014. The roadster version is expected to come in 2016. Though information on this new version is hard to get, a few rumors are consistent about certain specifications. It is clearly visible that the wheelbase of the SLC is shorter and it wears a body kit, identical to that of SLS AMG.
Mercedes Benz SLC should be about 150 mm shorter than SLS AMG. It is believed to be powered by a twin turbo, 4 litre or 5.5 Litre, V8 engine and will put out about 420bhp in the standard version and will be mated to a dual clutch transmission. There is another version of the SLC AMG slated to launch in 2016. It will feature a fabric-roofed variant of the current SLC AMG and just like the current SLS series, it will come with a cab-back silhouette, wide track base and the ever present elongated nose.
