German car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz will soon be adding an ultra-exclusive V-12 equipped version of its successful G-class lineup, reports an online publication. The new G65 AMG will join the Merc's high-performance SUV fleet, that already includes badass ML63 AMG, GL63 AMG, and G63 AMG. However, all these on-sale SUVs from the three-pointed brand comes equipped with a common 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 engine.
Powered by the Merc-AMG’s twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre V-12 mill, that pumps out 612 horses of power and 1,000 nm of mighty torque. The same brutal V-12 has been on sale elsewhere from few years and, currently, comes packed under the hoods of SL65 AMG, S65 AMG and most recently in the S65 AMG Coupe. The power in G65 AMG is transferred to all four wheels, courtesy a seven-speed automatic transmission. With these figures in the kitty, the new SUV does 100 kmph from rest in just 5.3 seconds, which is not at all bad considering bad for a vehicle that weighs over 2700 kilograms. While, the top speed of the vehicle is electronically limited to 230 kmph.
The report also states that, G65 AMG will be priced higher than USD 2,50,000 when it reaches the American showrooms in 2016. Just few days, back Land Rover also revealed its high-performance Range Rover Sport SVR and in near future, manufacturers like Bentley, Lamborghini, BMW, Porsche and Maserati are also working on performance SUVs for enhancing their performance-oriented product portfolio. The G65 AMG will be launched globally, post its American debut in 2016.
