The German luxury car manufacturer, Mercedes Benz announced two economical hybrid cars, Mercedes-Benz E300 Blue TEC HYBRID and Mercedes-Benz E400 Blue TEC HYBRID recently. The two cars with diesel-electric motors will go on sale from the second half of 2012 and are meant mainly for the European countries and Japan and China markets in Asia. The cars boast of extraordinary fuel efficiency while the diesel engine in the E 300 Blue TEC HYBRID delivers a remarkable 204 Bhp top power and 500 Nm of peak torque. The electric Li-ion battery supports the diesel powertrain with an additional 20 bhp power and a 200 Nm of torque.
It is the fuel efficiency numbers that is unbelievable with a consumption of just 4.2 l for every 100 km with the combined effort from both the engines. The Mercedes Benz E 400 Blue TEC HYBRID is a step ahead featuring a V6 petrol engine under the hood to churn out a 306 Bhp and 370 Nm peak power and torque with another 26 bhp and 250 Nm maximum power and torque on the top from the electric motor. It is the V6 petrol engine in the Mercedes-Benz E400 Blue TEC HYBRID that takes the cake with an enormous mileage of 26 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highways. With this example, one can easily say that car manufacturers have reached another level altogether in their efforts to produce the highly fuel efficient engines extremely low on consumption and emission as well. The two E-Class hybrid cars are exemplary with their start/stop mechanism and regenerative braking to give a penultimate driving experience.
