Mitsubishi plans to launch Hybrid Outlander by 2013

Mitsubishi Motors, the Japanese automaker company is apparently planning to come back in Indian market with new version of its SUV class Outlander i.e. Mitsubishi Outlander Hybrid in 2013. With low outcomes from its previous version of Mitsubishi Outlander, Mitsubishi India is still searching for a foothold in Indian automobile market.

It should be noted that earlier version of Mitsubishi Outlander fall short at various aspects which were vital points for alluring Indian customers. Mitsubishi Outlander is expensive, its seating capacity is less and number of Mitsubishi dealers are too less as compared to the rival companies. Moreover, with Mitsubishi’s lack of interest in marketing activities, the cars barely touched the three number figures in monthly sales reports.
But now Mitsubishi India is expecting good prospects with new 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Hybrid. As per speculations, the car is going to get a new facelift and will be based on PX-MiEV concept. The dimensions of this SUV segment car are expected to be 4650 mm x 1800 mm x 1670 mm.

However, making things more disappointing for Indian customers, the 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander is going to come without extra row of seating in the rear. As per reports, for accommodating hybrid battery, Outlander is going to ditch the rear seats. It should be noted that in UK the seven seater model of current Mitsubishi Outlander is present and in India Company launched the 5 seater model.

As per speculations, 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander is expected to get powered by 4 cylinder DOHC petrol engine producing power and torque of 114 hp and 125 Nm respectively. Furthermore the engine of this SUV will be combined with two electric permanent-magnet synchronous motor that producing power of 80 hp. Also, the company claims that 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander is capable of traveling up to 48 km on electricity alone. With large number of rumors surfing in Indian auto market and internet, we will have to wait till 2013 for real facts and figures to come alive.
