M&M adopts aggressive branding strategy prior to XUV 500 launch

Mahindra and Mahindra is leaving no stone unturned in creating the hype for the upcoming launch of their new SUV Mahindra XUV 500 slated to take place on 28th of September. Including the MD and VP of M&M, Anand Mahindra is said to be using the social media like Facebook and Twitter to keep the users abreast with the latest information on the nearing launch of their SUV. As a part of the media hype, M&M has come up with a contest that has four questions based on the new SUV to be answered by the participants. The winners will be qualified to win a brand new Mahindra XUV 500 SUV. One of the other prizes of the contest has 2011 Indian Grand Prix tickets for free.

The Mahindra XUV 500 SUV is likely to be launched in both India and South Africa simultaneously and the Indian auto brand envisages exporting the SUV to other emerging markets as well. The Mahindra XUV 500 is believed to come affixed with Scorpio’s 2.2 L common rail turbo diesel engine, slightly transformed to be a better performer to churn out a peak power output of 40 Bhp and 320 Nm peak torque. The SUV is expected to be made available in both the two-wheel drive and the four-wheel drive options with both the 5-speed or six-speed manual gearbox options on the board. The Mahindra XUV 500 price is likely to be placed higher than the Mahindra Scorpio top-end variant at around Rs 13 lakhs mark.
