M&M stops accepting bookings for W8 4WD variant of XUV 500 due to supply contraint

The much-hyped Mahindra XUV 500 has lived up to its image grabbing over 5000 bookings in the first six days of its launch. Speculationas are galore that due to the supply constraint, the utility vehicle manufacturer, Mahindra has stopped accepting bookings for the W8 4WD variant of Mahindra XUV 500. The Mahindra XUV 500 was launched on 29th of September and has been accepting the bookings from five cities across the country including, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Pune and Delhi since 1st October.

The Mahindra XUV 500 was launched amidst a huge fanfare of around 1 lakh viewers watching the live telecast of the show through their TV sets or internet. The popularity has grown in leaps and bounds with 66,000 fans in the social networking site, Facebook. The ‘Guess the Price’ contest initiated by M&M chairman, Anand Mahindra had been a major success with a 1.15 lakh entries. The stupendous response received from the consumers have made the auto manufacturer postpone the media campaign, though the commercial on the new SUV has been aired from 5th October featuring an agile cheetah transforming into the SUV.

Mahindra XUV 500 SUV is a product of home-grown engineering, manufactured at M&M’s Oragadam plant in Chennai. The XUV 500 is the first SUV from Mahindra to sport a monocoque design. The SUV had been launched at a starting price of its Rs 10.8 lakhs for its two-wheel drive W6 variant and goes all the way up to Rs 13 lakhs for the four-wheel drive W8 variant.
