However, it’s still pricier than the Brezza and Nexon’s diesel-automatic options

The diesel-AMT option is now available in the XUV300’s mid-spec W6 variant.
-
It was previously offered only on top-spec W8 and W8(O) variants of the SUV.
-
The AMT comes at a premium of Rs 49,000 over the manual transmission option.
-
The XUV300 still doesn’t get a petrol-auto option unlike the Nexon, Venue and EcoSport.
-
The W6 diesel-AMT gets electronic stability control and hill hold assist over the MT option.
-
The W6 variant gets dual front airbags, disc brakes on all wheels and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Mahindra has introduced a more affordable version of the XUV300 diesel-AMT by plonking this powertrain option in the mid-spec W6 variant. At Rs 9.9 lakh, the W6 diesel-AMT variant is considerably cheaper than W8 and W8(O) diesel-AMT variants that are priced from Rs 11.5 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom Mumbai).

The XUV300 W6 AMT gets safety features like electronic stability control and hill assist. It’s priced at a premium of Rs 49,000 over the W6 diesel-MT option. Sadly, Mahindra is yet to offer petrol variants of the XUV300 with the AMT option. The 1.5-litre diesel motor puts out 117PS of power and 300Nm of peak torque.
The mid-spec W6 variant misses out on features like LED DRLs, cruise control, auto AC, and front and rear fog lamps. However, it does get dual front airbags, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and steering-mounted audio controls, among others.
The XUV300 competes against the Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon and Maruti Vitara Brezza. The diesel-automatic variants of the Brezza and Nexon are still more affordable, starting at Rs 8.7 lakh and Rs 9.04 lakh respectively. Meanwhile, the Venue and EcoSport do not come with a diesel-AT option. However, they do offer petrol-automatic combos with more sophisticated transmission systems.
