Ignore the automotive scene today and take yourself four years back in time. The Honda CR-V was one of the budding cars in the Indian SUV market. Like all things this changed and people soon forgot about its success. Well, it seems Honda India doesn’t have a memory as short as most of us consumers. They are hinting strongly about a possible launch of the new-gen CR-V sometime in the future.

The test mule was caught on camera in the Greater Noida area and from the looks of it, the car has grown in dimensions amidst ripe speculations that the new-gen CR-V will definitely be above par of the current model. Honda has already released this new-gen CR-V in Pakistan and has hinted at its arrival to India in the coming months. The new CR-V will be powered by the same 2.4-litre engine that is housed in the current model but has been tuned to give a power output of 185bhp. Considering that the cars dimensions have been increased, the interiors will definitely be more spacious and the also considering that the new CR-V is to be priced in the Rs. 20 lakh plus range, the interiors will feature more than just increased space. Hopefully we’re looking at a more modernised interior with extra features.

On the down side, a whole lot of people are going to be disappointed by the fact that there will be no diesel version CR-V among the variants, something reserved only for the European version as of now. The European CR-V comes with two diesel engine options, a 1.6-litre and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. Since the Honda Brio is the next car to be slated for a diesel engine, we’re hoping to get one for the CR-V next. For now it’s all about playing the waiting game.
