The next-generation of Hyundai Elantra sedan will probably make its way to the 2016 Indian Auto Expo. The car has been launched in Korea, under the moniker ‘Avante’ and was recently showcased at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show. This particular iteration of the sedan will be drastically different from the current model, in the context of aesthetics. The fluidic design of the current Elantra will be replaced by a more aggressive and sharp look. Hyundai’s showcase at the upcoming auto expo is expected to be one of the largest the motor show has ever seen and justifiably so, considering it has to incorporate these beauties.
Speaking of aesthetics, the car is expected to flaunt its angular DRLs, redesigned front grill, which will be drenched in chrome, sleek taillamps and C-shaped fog lamp clusters. On the Inside, the updated sedan will probably flaunt an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment/navigation system, which will come paired to an eight-speaker Infinity premium audio system that includes a subwoofer and a central speaker.
Under the hood, Elantra might continue incorporating the 1.6-liter, Verna-derived diesel mill, albeit with some tweaks. As far as petrol powerplants are concerned, there is a possibility that Hyundai might showcase a variant with its all-new 1.4-liter turbocharged Kappa GDI four-cylinder engine in an Eco variant. The mill will deliver a power output of 128bhp @5,500 rpm and a peak torque of 211.5 Nm of torque between 1,400 to 3,700 rpm. Coupled with the EcoShift seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, this powerplant will be able to return a fuel-economy of 14 km/l, which will help it take on the likes of Toyota Corolla Altis and the relatively dated Chevrolet Cruze.
