Maruti Suzuki India had launched its top-selling hatchback Maruti Swift in a refreshed version that promises high fuel economy and comes loaded with many features at an excellent introductory price of Rs 4.12 lakhs. The 2011 Maruti Swift has been received with an overwhelming response by pitching in 50,000 bookings prior to its launch, out of which 80% of the bookings seemed to be for the diesel variant alone. As the diesel variant of the new Maruti Swift is very high, the Maruti India is facing a major supply crisis for the diesel driven Maruti Swift. Its not just the company that is having a hard time, the consumers also are coping up with the 4 month waiting period to become the proud owner of a new Maruti Swift diesel variant eventually.

Along with the high waiting time for the diesel variant of the Maruti Swift, the waiting period for the petrol variant of new Swift is also around 2-3 months. However, the situation is likely to tone down with the Maruti Swift export units production, that is expected to be shifted from the Hungary plant to the Indian plant.

The new Maruti Swift diesel does not come with the ABS on the Maruti Swift Vdi and is not included as an optional fitment either but it is available on the high-end variant Zdi that comes installed with ABS as well as airbags.
