It has been a while since Audi has been testing the next generation 2015 Audi Q7 on the European streets. This time the vehicle has been caught testing wearing new body shell. Earlier the vehicle was spotted with the current generation Q7's body panels.
The development of the next Q7 was commenced in 2012, and the SUV is expected to be launched in 2015-16. Based on the MLB platform, the new Q7 SUV will be lighter than its predecessor. The same platform will underpin several VW's group cars including Bentley crossover, Lamborghini Urus, new Touareg and Porsche Cayenne. This platform will help the company to make the next SUV more agile, responsive and fuel economical. The new Q7 is expected to be around 363kg lighter than the outgoing model.
The next generation Audi Q7 has a more slopping roofline and a low ground clearance. The larger front grille and a new bumper with acceptable air intakes provide a more aggressive stance to the vehicle.
The all-new Audi Q7 is expected to be made available with a range of engines. The petrol model will get a 3.0-litre V6 TFSI engine producing 310bhp, while the larger 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo engine develops 435bhp. The diesel version of the SUV is likely to be powered by a 3.0-litre V6 TDI engine developing 258bhp and a range topping 4.2-litre V8 TDI engine producing 385bhp. It is also speculated that the new Q7 could also come in a plug-in hybrid version.
