Nico Rosberg, the German F1 driver is having a time of his life. First he got married to his long time girlfriend Vivian Sibold on July 11 and then beat his closest rival Lewis Hamilton to win the German F1 Grand Prix. With this win, Rosberg increases his championship points lead to 14 over team mate Hamilton.
Rosberg was followed by the Team Williams’ Valtteri Bottas who finished second, a couple of seconds faster than the Mercedes British driver Lewis Hamilton. While Sebastian Vettel and Daniel Ricciardo of team Red Bull managed to score 4th and 6th position while between them was Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso. Ferrari’s another driver Kimi Raikkonen failed to score any points as he finished 11 on the charts.
At the track of Hockenheimring, Rosberg completed his 67 laps of 190 miles (305.775 kms) in 1 hr 33 min and 42.914 seconds with an average speed of 196.205 (315.8 kmph). After winning the German Grand Prix Rosberg said, “It's an amazing feeling to win at home. It's a very special day.” For the Force India Nico Hulkenberg failed to impress as he scored 6 points by finishing 7th while his teammate Sergio Perez only managed to finish at the 10 position.
In the constructors’ point tally, Team Mercedes moved even further ahead of its rivals. Mercedes with 366 are way ahead to Red Bull’s 188, while to a shocker Williams are now up to third, overtaking Ferrari with 121 to 116. Moreover, Force India is still at fifth position with 98 points. After finishing second at the podium, Bottas said, “It was not easy and required input from all the engineers. Thanks to all the fans. I saw many Finnish flags so thank you.”
From the straight track of Germany, the F1 circuit now moves to Hungary with the excitement beginning from July 25 to 27, 2014.
