Nissan has introduced the 12th generation of Navara pick-up truck in Thailand, the Japanese automaker has been teasing the vehicle for the last couple of days. The Navara is one of the longest running nameplate in the pick-up segment in Thailand. The 2015 pick-up is an entirely new offering featuring brand-new design and revamped interiors. The vehicle will go on sale later this year in Thailand.
Speaking of the design, the new Navara feature Nissan's V-Motion design language, which is being used in the company's latest offerings. At the outset, the Navara features Nissan's signature 'V' grille, which is also present in the Terrano, in India. The wrap-around headlamps feature daytime running LEDs with projectors. A lot of chrome is thrown around the vehicle to make it look premium. The rear is a traditional pick-up territory but features chrome inserts in the rear bumper. The pick-up features a double cab layout with chrome ORVMs and contrasting roof rails and door handles. Apart from this, it also comes with new color options - Savannah Yellow and Earth Bronze.
The 2015 Navara features completely new dash layout with chrome and silver inserts. It also sports the new steering wheel, which we have seen in the Terrano and the updated Sunny. The central console boasts a touchscreen infotainment system, while the instrumentation cluster houses a central display, which provides turn-to-turn navigation along with other essential vehicle details like fuel economy, etc.
Nissan offers Navara in Diesel and Petrol, both and co-incidentally both versions displace 2488 cc. The diesel motor produces power in two states of tune churning out 163 PS with 403 Nm of torque for the first few versions and 190 PS with 450 Nm of torque for the rest. The company claims that the mill has been bettered in FE by 11 per cent. However, the company is yet to announce the details about the petrol version but we can expect a healthy growth in the power and torque output of the existing motor. The former configuration of the mill makes it dishes out the maximum power of 165PS and a peak torque of 250Nm. The engines of the machine will come mated either to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed automatic gearbox. As hereditary, the new Nissan Navara will also be featuring shift-on-the-fly 4×4 drive system.
Reportedly, Nissan is also planning to build a seven seater SUV on the Navara platform to tackle the Mitsubishi Pajero, the Toyota Fortuner and the upcoming 2015 Ford Endeavour in Asian markets.
