Over 2.5 Crore! That’s How Many Cars Maruti Has Manufactured Till Date

Close to half of these vehicles were produced only in the last 10 years
Maruti Suzuki, which began operations in India in 1983, has now manufactured over 2.5 crore passenger vehicles in the country. These vehicles were manufactured in the carmaker’s two manufacturing plants in Haryana, located in Gurugram and Manesar.
These two manufacturing plants have the combined capacity of manufacturing 15 lakh vehicles every year. The country’s biggest carmaker started with the humble M800 compact hatchback, and today it has 16 models in its lineup with more on the way. For its upcoming line of eco-friendly vehicles, the carmaker is in the process of setting up its third manufacturing facility.
Apart from Indian sales, the carmaker also manufactures and exports vehicles to almost 100 countries. At present, it consistently enjoys domestic sales of well over 10 lakh units a year.

Maruti Suzuki’s cumulative production crosses 2.5 crore units
New Delhi, 2 November 2022: Maruti Suzuki India Limited has achieved cumulative production of over 2.5 crore (25 million) units. This makes Maruti Suzuki the only Indian company to have achieved this significant milestone in passenger vehicle production.
Maruti Suzuki began its operations in 1983, with its first production facility in Gurugram, Haryana. Today, the Company has two state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, located in Gurugram and Manesar in Haryana. Both the facilities together are capable of producing 1.5 million units per annum.
With its first car, the iconic M800, Maruti Suzuki won many hearts and became a household name. Over time, the company adapted to the changing needs of its customers and environment and scaled up its capability to offer feature rich, technologically advanced and environment-friendly vehicles.
The Company’s manufacturing facilities, along-with its vast ecosystem of multi-tier suppliers and dealers, contribute significantly to the building of economy, society and nation. Aligned to the Government of India’s vision of Make-in-India, the Company has, over the years, strengthened its exports. Today, while Maruti Suzuki offers a choice of 16 passenger vehicle models for its customers in India, it also exports to around 100 markets worldwide.
