The Kia Seltos has been one of the leading models in the compact SUV space ever since its launch and now it has reached a new sales milestone. It entered the Indian market in 2019 as a rival to the Hyundai Creta, and has dispatched 5 lakh units to buyers since. As part of the celebrations, Kia has even released a special anthem for the Seltos.
What’s Under The Hood
The compact SUV comes with both petrol and diesel engine options: a 1.5-litre petrol engine (115PS and 144Nm) paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT gearbox and a 1.5-litre diesel unit (115PS and 250Nm) mated to either a 6-speed iMT or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine was recently discontinued, expected to be replaced by the new 1.5-litre turbocharged unit from the updated Kia Carens. It was offered with the choice of a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Features & Safety
Positioned as a premium offering in its segment, the Kia Seltos is laden with features. It gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital driver’s display, an 8-inch head-up display, ventilated front seats, a single-pane sunroof and an 8-speaker Bose sound system.

In terms of passenger safety, the compact SUV is equipped with six airbags as standard, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), hill hold assist and brake assist.
Price & Rivals
Kia has priced the Seltos between Rs 10.89 lakh and Rs 19.65 lakh (ex-showroom) and it is a rival to the likes of Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder. The facelifted Kia Seltos is expected to arrive later this year with mild design tweaks and an updated feature list, and could be priced from Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards.
