ARAI would make sure that the hatchback meets the imperative terms and conditions but if it fails to satisfy those parameters, Peugeot will be informed about the necessary amendments to be made in the hatchback in order to make it impeccable. Peugeot plans to launch the 207 hatchback in the Indian car market by 2012, and is likely to be priced at Rs 5 lakh.

The hatchback adorns Bluetooth system, remote controlled window closure, impulse direction indicators and one-touch operation of the driver’s electric window. The small car will be powered with a frugal diesel engine as well as petrol engine. The hatchback will abide by the norms of the small cars and will also be befitted by the excise duty levied on the small cars. Peugeot's new offering is upbeat and can give a stiff competition to premium small cars like Maruti Swift, Hyundai i20.
