Peugeot 207 test mule spied in Pune

The Peugeot 207 hatchback was spotted sometime back and quite recently the hatchback is yet again spied on the Pune roads. This time the Peugeot 207 hatchback was found being tested by the ARAI technicians checking on few of the key points in the car. The small car is likely to be introduced in the Indian car market by the end of 2012. Loaded with exceptionally good features, the car is expected to challenge the competitors like Maruti Swift and recently launched Honda Brio in B segment cars. The French car manufacturer is working towards setting up the new plant in Gujarat with the Ground Breaking ceremony to be held on November 3^rd.

The production will begin at the new plant towards the mid 2012 to gear up for the Peugeot 207 launch towards the end of the year. Though the spotted car was a 3-door version of Peugeot 207, a 5-door model was also reported to be undergoing tests.  However, there are mixed opinions about the three door hatchback in India, which might not hold a great appeal to Indians who generally look for an ideal family car. The French auto major will make its re-debut in the country after 10 years by introducing its sedan car Peugeot 508 at the 2012 Auto Expo. Due to the lack of the manufacturing facility in India right at this moment, the manufacturer will import the sedan as a CBU. However, once the operations at the new plant commences, the company envisages increasing the localisation of its cars to 70-80%.
