Porsche eyes 6.5% sales growth in 2012

Volkswagen AG’s luxury car subsidiary Porsche is in the process of setting new milestones for growth in 2012. The auto giant hopes to see a 6.5% growth globally according to the Porsche’s Managing Director Bernhard Maier. Porsche however, will be growing with the stream as an overall, the car sales globally are expected to increase by 6.5 % this year as per the Polk market research industry report.

The parent company Volkswagen AG who has high plans to grab the number one position as a car manufacturer in the world, apparently has some revised strategy for Porsche when coming to its India sales especially. The luxury car brand hasn’t particularly done well in the past which had to settle down for just 134 unit sales during 2010. Volkswagen in turn who wasn’t quite happy with the Porsche India sales hopes to turn it around taking the matter under its wing. The Porsche cars which have been selling under the Precision cars India banner until now, didn’t garner the success the company envisaged.

However, Porsche India is not the one to give up so soon.The had recently opened the eighth dealership in the garden City of Bangalore, where the customised Porsche cars will be offered for a unique proposition in India. The Porsche India dealerships are however quite positive to see the Porsche car sales improve from the past to touch 500 mark in 2011. Going forward, Volkswagen hopes to set up a new assembly plant for Porsche, if the Porsche car sales in India does begin to lift up well in line with its plans to see localised production of Porsche Cayenne SUV atleast to some extent.
