At the Auto expo 2010 Premier, India’s pioneering car maker had set up their pavilion at Lake Outdoor of Pragati Maidan which was dazzling with the showcase of its carmodels. For the enthusiastic viewers and media there was arrangement of reception where the company’s associates were providing information about the company and the models and were distributing brochures and press release to media. The pavilion was looking attractive with the car models on the rotating dais along with beautiful models posing for them. Premier had launched a compact SUV named Rio. The car aims to serve the segment between mid-sized passenger cars and large utility vehicles. The Rio is powered by Premier’s 14899cc turbo diesel engine which is based on Peugeot technology that delivers 65BHP and also fuel efficiency of about 16kms/liter. Rio based on a Daihatsu model has comfortable seating capacity for 5 adults. To boost up the sale Premier is offering a 3 year warranty.
The Rio is available in 3 versions: Rio Ex, Rio Dx and Rio Lx. Its base model is coming with a price tag of Rs 5.25 lakhs( ex-showroom Pune) and the deluxe model is priced at Rs. 6 lakhs (ex-showroom Pune). The SUV is nearly Rs 1.5lakhs cheaper than others in the Indian market. All the models come with the features like power steering, central locking, front power windows and CD/MP3 player. The Lx version has additional feature like alloy wheels, roof rails, anti-lock breaking system (ABS) and keyless entry.
Rio has a feature of foldable split rear seats which facilitates multiple seating configurations. Its unique feature of very high ground clearance enables it to comfortably operate on all type of roads. Initially the vehicle will be available in 5 colours: red, white, silver, black and blue.
The company currently has 30 dealers and it has plans to expand the network upto 100 in the next 6 months thereby trying to create an all India network.
