Production at Toyota's second plant to begin by 2010

Toyota Motor Corporation's Indian arm to commence production at its second car plant by the end of 2010 in India. It's Managing Director H Nakagawa told reporters on Tuesday at the launch of its new Land Cruiser that its second plant to start production by the end of the next year which will have a capacity of 100,000 units a year. The total investment on the plant is $680 million. He said that the company expected to sell over 50,000 units of Innova, Corolla and Camry sedan in India. Toyota sold 51,500 vehicles in India last year. Toyota holds 89 per cent in the Indian venture, which has an annual production capacity of 60,000 units from a factory in Karnataka.
