Renault Captur on the Adventure Trail

French automobile manufacturer Renault showcased company's all new identity at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Its new design used in its cars has derived from different stages of human life cycle. It was the two seater DeZir coupe initially that represented 'falling in love', passion that exists at the start of any new adventure and now Renault CAPTUR unveiled the second stage of the life cycle where two people explore the world around them.

Just like DeZir, Renault CAPTUR showcases a sensuous, simple and warm design that would be incorporated in future Renault car designs. CAPTUR is a sporty and fun crossover as described by Design Director, Laurens Van den Acker. The CAPTUR in its heart takes the DeZir concept but has a more technical angle to it.

Renault CAPTUR proportions and curves gives a sense of lightness and movement and at the same time takes powerful and muscular cues. Julio Lozano, the exterior designer took inspiration for its exterior design from athletes and radical sports. He adds that he started designing the car with an image of a sprinter on the starting blocks when his muscles are tensed. What follows is a energy unleashed at the firing of the pistol. The design also incorporates elements like gloves, helmets and other protective gear used in sports. The idea was to merge sophistication and lightness with high end technology.

Renault CAPTUR has the same identity as DeZir in the front. Though sensuous and curvy in its image, Renault CAPTUR doesn't just wake slept emotions in spectators, it can be called a versatile and practical car. Equipped with strong convertible top which beneath it reveals a carbon fibre framework, thus transforming itself from coupe to convertible in seconds. The sports car design is established through its butterfly styled doors along with huge tyres fixed to 22 inch white and black rims. The color of the car which is essentially orange takes its cues from DeZir red championed hue, the hint of which can be seen in various parts of the car.

Renault CAPTUR is powered by the Energy dCi 160 twin-turbo engine concept which has been developed from the new Energy dCi 130. The main objective to lower the CO2 emissions was achieved through downsizing. Various electric vehicles will function along internal combustion cars that deliver performance and reduced fuel consumption and the new engine does just that. The new dCi 160 twin turbo engine offers 160 hp of power and a top torque of 380 Nm at 1750 rpm, resulting in high and refined performance in any weather condition. Teamed with Dual clutch EDC gearbox, the car ensures joyful ride while maintaining as low as 99 g CO2 emissions per km.

Renault CAPTUR also brings for the first time, Visio system, which utilizes a camera that faces forward mounted at the top of the windscreen. The camera renders help by providing driver-assistance functions. This technology can create real images of the road in front, from synthesized ones on a screen. All this is done to improve the driver's view of the external world. This system aids in lowering driver's stress for a enjoyable and relaxing drive.
